Ok so this post is a couple days late… if you saw my IG it was absolutely on time! I was so excited to flaunt pictures of my little fur ball. This is my just shy of 3 pounds Yorkie or Yorkshire Terrier . He’s 3 and half years old now. His name is Rusty. Because of Rusty’s size Rusty is considered a Teacup yorkie.
At just 4 months he was able to master sit, stay, lay down, paw, speak, and play dead. After about a good year he is was completely potty trained. Now at 3 years he has a special command word that I use “busy busy” when taken to his wee wee pad he goes, on command! He’s the smartest dog I know.
Yorkies are full of energy. They love to play with toys and fetch. They bark moderately but not as much as other small breeds. They are great house dogs and will usually attach to their owner. I have heard that they don’t make great family dogs. Rusty plays nice with my little nieces but he doesn’t particularly enjoy them.
- Non shedding
- Adapts easily
- Easy to groom
- 4-6 pounds
If your thinking about getting a Yorkie, run a search for some local breeders and ask them if they have any puppy’s available. If they do any you’re seriously considering it, usually the breeder will let you spend some time with the puppy before making a decision.
